Summer wedding on an Essex Island

In August last year we loaded up the van and headed for the Essex coastline, our destination was Osea Island. Osea Island is an island in the River Blackwater that our lovely couple Martha and Ed had hired for the weekend.

Their secret garden ceremony had an aisle lined with bunches of seasonal foliage tied to vintage chairs with silk. A very large statement urn stood at the entrance to the garden filled with large Cafe au Lait Dahlias and trailing mile a minute vines.

Martha and Ed held their wedding breakfast within an old industrial building on the island, the Powerhouse, this was a great space with a blank canvas for us to create a focal point.
Martha trusted us completely to create a wild installation piece for behind the top table. This large wild and sprawling installation piece bloomed out of the window as if growing through the cracks in the wall, using vines and seasonal foliage we created delicate intertwining gardens that covered the wall behind the top table.
Their wedding breakfast tables were decorated with simple glass bottles and vessels with small arrangements and single stems, we gathered tiny perfectly coloured apricots that were growing in the secret garden to add to the tablescape.

Unique Essex Wedding Flowers

The installation piece was filled with tall elegant white Cosmos, fluffy white Scabious, pale delicate pink and cream garden Roses and dainty Japanese Anemones.

Martha carried a bouquet packed full of heady garden Roses, delicate Hydrangeas and evening scented Nicotiana, wrapped in simple cream and pale pink silk ribbons.

Shout out to Paula & Lily, who made the weekend very memorable. The planner was Charlie from London Bride.

Late Summer September Wedding with White Flowers

In early September with the last burst of summer flowers we travelled to Castle Combe in Wiltshire for Ashley & Rob's elegant wedding. The colour palette was a subtle mix of cream and white with a hint of pastel yellow.

Ashley's bouquet was wrapped in silk ribbon and filled with a beautiful mix of late summer blooms. Margret Merril Roses, Japanese Anemones, highly scented Nicotiana and delicate sweet peas still on the vine.

This picture (captured by Victoria Phipps) of Ashley attaching Rob's buttonholes before the ceremony is one of my favourites, I love the idea of this intimate moment between them just before they said their vows.

Due to the inclement weather, Ashley & Rob opted to change their outdoor ceremony to an indoor one a few days before the wedding. We created two large dramatic urn arrangements to stand either side of the couple as they said their vows, filled with tumbling vines and big blousy Dahlias and Hydrangeas.

For the wedding breakfast tables, we created high all-foliage arrangements as focal points in the room, surrounded by small bottles and vases with single stems and mini arrangements.

Faye & Dan - Pampas Heaven

The wedding of Dan & Faye, September 19th 2015.

It's an amazing feeling when a Bride gives you free rein, armed with a colour palette of dusky pink, white and the late summer seasons this is what was created. The 10 bridesmaids were a slightly daunting task...
